At the beginning of 2026, the VCDS association organized a child rights awareness campaign across all its non-formal schools. The objective of this initiative was to inform both children and parents about children’s rights, the dangers children may face, and the practical solutions in place to protect them.
The campaign addressed the various risks children can encounter in their daily lives. The topics covered included abuse, harassment, child labour, child marriage, and sexual violence. These discussions helped children better understand these risks and learn how to identify them.
VCDS also presented the main legal texts that protect children from these dangers, with the aim of strengthening awareness of children’s rights. This part of the campaign highlighted that child protection is based on a legal framework and that children’s rights are recognized and guaranteed.
Beyond the theoretical aspects, the association focused on practical and accessible solutions. The campaign also highlighted the essential role of local stakeholders, such as NGOs, teachers, parents, and professionals, who can support, assist, and guide children in case of difficulty. Participants were also informed about the existence of emergency helplines, particularly the national child helpline 1098 (Childline), which can be used to report any situation where a child is in danger.
Overall, this campaign strengthened the knowledge of both children and parents regarding children’s rights and the ways to protect themselves from risky situations. Through this initiative, VCDS aims to reinforce prevention, encourage the reporting of at-risk situations, and contribute to creating a safer environment for children’s development.
